Washington, D.C. – The 3rd Annual Reel Independent Film Extravaganza (RIFE2012 @ West End Cinema) will take place at West End Cinema in Washington, D.C. October 12 – 18. RIFE2012 will feature film screenings, spotlight selections, networking events and award ceremonies honoring critically acclaimed works from all over the world.
The Reel Independent Film Extravaganza will celebrate both emerging and experienced filmmakers, independent films and entertainment industry professionals. The week-long celebration will feature films hailing from the USA, France, Portugal, Israel, Germany, Poland, United Kingdom and Canada.

• Wolf | A critically acclaimed film concerning a young man’s struggle with the church and sexual abuse.
• Oxygen for the Ears: Living Jazz | A documentary on the vibrant Washington, D.C. scene and its pivotal role in American jazz history.
• Give Up Tomorrow | A documentary about the Filipino judicial system during a controversial murder case.
• The Hidden Hand | An award-winning documentary examining truth behind extra-terrestrial life.
• Married in Spandex | A comedy examining a young lesbian couple on a cross-country journey to marriage.
• The Invisible Men | An untold side of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: Gay Palestinians -- Louie, Abdu and Fares -- are hiding in Tel Aviv, and until they escape, they must remain 'the invisible men.'
• The Three Way | Mike arrives home to discover his girlfriend, Tasha, is back early. Chaos erupts when Tasha discovers some condoms and a love note in Mike's jacket. Mike insists it’s all a misunderstanding until an unexpected male friend arrives at the front door.
• The Cardboard Bernini | This film follows Jimmy's journey, as he questions life's fragility and the artistic process.
• Theresa Sareo: Alive Again | The inspirational true story of singer/songwriter Theresa Sareo whose life was forever changed when an impaired driver of an SUV caused the loss of her entire right leg on a Manhattan street corner.
• Written In Ink | Written in Ink is a documentary about hope. The compelling story of a man trying to get back in touch with his sister after they haven't had any contact for 14 years.

Throughout the weekend the RIFE2012 Spotlight Selection will be presented. These exceptional films include Oxygen for the Ears: Living Jazz, directed by Stefan Immler. The screening will precede an opening night after-party at historic Georgetown’s MOCA DC Art Gallery featuring a live performance by the Anthony Parker Jazz Trio. The critically acclaimed Wolf will be our centerpiece film. The director, Ya’Ke Smith and producer, Ralph Lopez will be in attendance for a Q&A session following the screening moderated by Anacostia creator Anthony Anderson. Director Michael Collins and producer Marty Syjuco will be in attendance for the screening of the award winning documentary Give Up Tomorrow with a special guest moderator to be announced.

The RIFE2012 Awards Ceremony will take place Sunday, October 14 from 11:00am – 1:00pm where filmmakers will be honored for their submitted films. The Three Way will also be screened Sunday with a Q&A following the screening moderated by Cherie Moody with the director Julian Renner and cast. Theresa Sareo will be in attendance for the Monday, October 15 screening of Theresa Sareo: Alive Again hosted and moderated by Women In Film and Video. Renowned artist James Grashow will be in attendance along with The Cardboard Bernini director Olympia Stone for a live Q&A focusing on the context of the intimate and thought provoking documentary.
